Wujiang Hydropower Production Dispatch Satellite Emergency Communication System

Guizhou Wujiang Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of China Huadian Group in Guizhou, responsible for the development and construction of hydropower and thermal power in Guizhou Province. According to the development strategy needs of Wujiang Company, with the continuous advancement of river basin development, the reliability of production scheduling data transmission is particularly important in the event of geological disasters, ice and snow and floods and other emergencies. Therefore, the satellite communication system will serve as an important backup channel for its terrestrial fiber optic link.

This project uses the VSAT satellite communication system to realize the single-hop satellite network communication between the main station of the centralized control center and each hydropower station, and the satellite network communication between the sub-central station of the centralized control center and the subsystem satellite network of each thermal power station, with a total of 2 main stations and 14 remote station. Among them, the radio frequency unit and intermediate frequency equipment of the main station system adopt a 1:1 hot backup design, which effectively improves the reliability of the system.

This network structure realizes the physical hardware isolation between the dispatching data transmission network of hydropower stations and the dispatching data transmission network of thermal power plants, ensuring the independence and security of data transmission. The system provides a transmission channel for the production data and dispatch calls from the Wujiang production dispatch command center to each power station when the ground optical fiber communication network is interrupted. In February 2012, the system was officially put into operation and has been in good condition so far.
