The Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the plateau railway with the highest altitude and the longest line in the world, is known as the "Road to Heaven". It is a landmark project for the implementation of the western development strategy and one of the four major projects in the new century in China. It starts from Xining City in Qinghai Province in the east and ends in Lhasa City in Tibet in the south, with a total length of 1956 kilometers. It was officially opened to traffic on July 1, 2006.
Most of the lines on the Qinghai-Tibet line are located in high-altitude areas and "no man's land". During the construction, three major problems must be overcome: permafrost, plateau hypoxia, ecological fragility, and bad weather. Many uninhabited areas cannot be covered by optical fiber, and satellite equipment must be installed to ensure wireless communication. During the construction of this railway, wherever the conditions are the most difficult, there are our construction workers.
